Welcome back.
Today, we are continuing our series on Mini Chainsaws. So far we covered some of our favorite brands:
We even covered how to oil a mini chainsaw.
But now, we will take a step back and talk about how to change a mini chainsaw battery.
Maybe you just purchased your first power tool and have no idea how to use the tool.
Don't fret. This is not difficult. In fact, battery replacement is quite simple. It's astonishingly simple. It is so simple, you probably don't need to read a blog post on it.
But hey, if you've never used a battery-powered chainsaw, this might be the post for you.
We find that people who use mini chainsaws are people who typically have no experience with power tools.
So we are here to help.
Let's get into it.
Things You'll Need:
You don't need a charger or an outlet but we do cover how to charge your battery replacement as well.
Nonetheless, if you have your chainsaw and batteries, you are good to go.
Make sure you have the safety lock on your mini chainsaw if you plan on removing the battery.
You don't want to accidentally activate the chain when you are about to change your battery.
Say you want to take off the chainsaw to charge the battery.
Press down on the release lever on the battery and pull it away from the saw. See below:
If you need to charge it, now is the time. Plug it back into the power source and leave it there until the LED is green. You can use it again for your next job.
Having a battery-powered chainsaw means you will, of course, need to work with batteries.
It is a little bit easier than gas chainsaws, that is for sure but overall, it isn't too complicated.
If the battery is broken, you will need a replacement. Most aren't too expensive, especially for mini chainsaws.
Maybe you are troubleshooting your chain saw or just bought a brand new one. Okay. Fine.
You'll want to make sure the battery is charged. Not all these chainsaws have a long battery life, and fresh out the box they won't always be charged.
Plug whatever battery you have into a power source. If it isn't fully charged, it will light up red. At least, mine does:
If you don't have an LED indicator, I mean, I don't know what to tell you.
But, a few hours later it should be fully charged. All depends on the charging time.
When it's done, the LED will light up green:
Okay, so now you take the battery and slide it onto the bottom of the mini chainsaw.
This step sounds complicated but it really is anything but complicated. It should slide on like a puzzle piece.
You'll hear a click.
In my case, the release button faces out towards the bar. So long as I line that up, I have no issues putting on the battery.
Okay, now test your saw to see if you did this correctly. If you did it correctly, the tool should brr-brr with no issue.
I don't see how you could mess this up but if you put it on and the chainsaw isn't working, you either 1) put it on wrong or 2) the battery has no charge.
Or there is another issue, like maybe the chainsaw is broken. Hopefully that is not the case.
But if everything is working smoothly, then go ahead and get outside and cut branches.
If you bought a large capacity battery, it'll have a much longer battery life and you'll be able to run it for longer.
The Taranzy Mini chainsaw comes with 2 batteries, so if you are always charging one, you will always have a replacement. It's a great buy.
Okay, great. You don't need excess oil.
That's pretty much it! We know this was a complicated topic... changing the battery on a power tool... okay, okay.
It wasn't complicated and most of you probably finished changing the battery before the end of this post.
Anyways, get outside with your little saw and get to pruning.
A mini chainsaw battery will last depending on the capacity of the battery. For something close to a 2.0Ah 21V battery, you can expect up to 30 to 45 minutes of working time.
Over here at Sweet New Earth, we love to review tools and bring the good ones to your attention.
